Toddlers, Childhood, Youth, and Young Adults
Don't say 'terrible twos'; Say Tremendous Toddlerhood. Sure, these are the hardest photo sessions we do, as toddlers run in and out of a picture as quickly as their nose runs, but the results are so worth it.
Let's be honest - you don't really want to remember them as perfectly composed and still children while they move like tornadoes, do you? So we focus on who they are, rather than how a perfect session would go.
We play. And in playing with kids, we get children's pictures that show who they really are - Angels on Amphetamines (that's a really good name for a band.)
We recomend photographing active toddlers in the studio, be we can do an outdoor session if you're so inclined.

4-8. Still cute, able to take some direction, and starting to lose their babyish looks. Of course we love photographing childhood!
And if they're losing their teeth - what could be more memorable. Do you remember that Brady Bunch episode where Cindy has to take speech classes because she's missing her two front teeth? Of course you do, because that's just plain adorable.
Good sessions for Children 4-8 are sports or dance activity sessions, location sessions to somewhere special, and color studies at the studio.
Of course, this is also an excellent age for a portrait of the whole family with your child, either at a beach, or in the studio.
10-12 is the last period before the teenage years, where your children will immedietly look four years older than you 'd like them to.
This is a great age for a soft portrait of the kids together, or for a connection session with just them and Mom.

While not quite as big a commencement as graduation from High School, the move from Middle School to High School is an important event for photography for self-esteem issues.
No where else in teenage life will your child's self-image be tested as quickly as when they enter high school as a Freshman. Before the September of Sadness - give your teenagers a summer of feeling great about themselves, trading retouched wallets of their eighth grade graduation shots.
If for no other reason than to be able to sing a song to your daughter that you really hope no man Ringo's age ever does. (He was 34 when Sweet Sixteen became a number 1 hit - a little pervy even for a Beatle).
