Why A Focus Portrait Always Looks Better!

Studio Lighting Expertise

At Focus, we light our subjects the way Rembrandt did (he was an artist, for those of you who skipped art class.) We’ve learned through studying the master painters (and years of training) how a large, soft light can flatter every face when angled correctly.  Look at how gently the light fades off of Meaghon’s cheekbones into the shadow on the left side of her face.  Our expertise with lighting gives every Focus portrait the timeless qualities of a work of art.

Sparkle in the eyes

Lights and reflectors are positioned to twinkle in the iris and emphasize your eyes.  Without this, images are lifeless, but at Focus, bright eyes bring our images to life.

Skin smoothing

All Focus Portraits receive Hollywood style retouching and smoothing to ensure that you look your very best.

Shadow and Highlites

Focus Portraits have a full dynamic range, with both smooth, soft shadows and a glowing shine in the highlights.

Subject Driven Portraits

In a Focus Portrait, all lines within the image lead back to the subject, and backgrounds are chosen to match the outfit and its colors.

Testimonials

“The session was incredible.  Will made me feel like a movie star!  I’ve never seen pictures of myself that looked so amazing, and I got 100% bragging rights with my friends when it came to pictures.  I wish you could have seen everyone’s face the day they saw my pics.  Everyone was basically jealous - Mine were by far the best!”

–Natasha Manson, Winslow

“Thanks for everything!  I was absolutely dreading getting my photos done, but things came out perfectly - better than I could have hoped for.”

–John Moore, Deering

“During the photo shoot, I could tell John was having fun, and I don’t think he anticipated enjoying being photographed... I thought the pricing was very reasonable.  I appreciated having the session fee separate - with no obligation to purchase anything.  It made the whole experience less pressured.”

–Peggy Moore, John’s Mom

“I had so much fun at my photo session that I would redo it again and again if I could.  I felt famous!  Will was so funny, and I was really laughing, and not fake smiling. It was really ME. ”

–Maria Fournier, Catherine McAuley

“#1 - Will’s crazy, & being a kind of shy person myself, he made me comfortable and relaxed rather than stiff.  Loved the gagillion changes of outfits, & I LOVE my pictures.

–Meredith Lindsey, Wells

“Will’s style is more artistic which helps to make every picture he takes into something special.  My sessions with Will were very laid back - he made me feel right at home, and the whole session was a lot of fun.  I liked that with my finished images I had so many expressions, outfits and locations.  I didn’t have to worry about what if I did this instead, because we did it all.”

–Jennyfer Roberts, Massabesic

“I had a really enjoyable time.  I liked how Will’s directions on how I could move and pose were very easy to understand & follow.  My pictures are all so different, and yet all me.  Some are so good I have to take a second look & remind myself whose picture I’m looking at.”

–Vanessa Martin, Biddeford

“The images were awesome.  Not only was there a lot of thought process in the background/setting, you also helped Vanessa select the outfits that suited her best...  Knowing how much the cost would be in advance was very helpful for staying in budget and not getting carried away.”

–Lynn Martin, Vanessa’s Mom

“My photo sessions were fun and easy (this coming from someone who dreaded doing it in the first place).  You made it fun and enjoyable; you had clear demands and direction; you made the process easy.”

–Chris Eaton, N.Y.A.

“You put Chris at ease - He did not want to do this, and you inspired him to have fun with it!”

–Karen Eaton, Chris’ Mom

“I loved my photo sessions!  It was so much fun, and me and my friend had a blast, and Will made us feel very comfortable.”

–Brittni Keites  Westbrook

“You did everything right  with Brittni - it was a great experience.  I don’t think there’s much you could do to improve the process.”

–Brenda Keites, Brittni’s Mom

“Senior portraits at Focus is a once in a lifetime experience.  Your senior pics are so important, and Focus makes them great.”

–Jessica Cardona, Portland

“My experience with Focus was excellent.  Will really knew what he was doing.  There was nothing traditional about my sessions, and that is what I loved most about them!”

–Erica Snow, G.N.G.

“From the minute we arrived for the photo shoot to picking up our order, we were treated with excellent service.  We were comfortable with our whole experience with you.”

–Marianne Snow, Erica’s Mom

“The actual session was a blast, and not at all terrifying, as I thought it might be.  You used a lot of unique camera angles and the experience was excellent.  I loved the different hues and tones that were added to the pictures.  The color choices helped to bring the portraits to life.”

–Gabrielle Kempton, Gorham
